Abstract :
This paper investigates a two degree of freedom control system which enables active vibration suppression for a tall structure subjected to seismic excitation. The control system is composed of a state feedback or robust output feedback controller and an adaptive feedforward controller. The latter can make use of acceleration rates of remote ground motions which are detected by remote sensors and sent to the controller through wireless communications, even if there exist uncertainties in seismic propagation dynamics and structure model. A robust adaptive algorithm with assured stability is presented to improve the vibration control performance by using a prior bound of uncertain term. In numerical simulations, it is shown that there exists an optimal sensor location that can minimize the maximum movement of a mass of dynamic absorber.
