Abstract :
The authors present a graphics-oriented environment, focusing on programming-in-the-large aspects. They cover all design steps from the initial requirements specification to a detailed description of the distributed system structure, its information exchange, and the real-time software executed in each component. All integrated design tools are highly interactive, providing the user with advanced graphical techniques. The implementation of the entire design environment is based on the X window system and the Unix operating system and can thus be used on an increasing number of low-cost workstations
