Abstract :
Piezoelectric materials consisting of Pb(ZrxTi1-x ) O3 [x=0.52 and 0.94] and glass powder 4PbO-B2 O3 were studied. It is shown that, if a small amount of 4PbO-B2O3 glass powder is added to the PZT system, the sintering temperature can be reduced and the dielectric and piezoelectric properties will be enhanced. For PZT (52/48) doped with 0.2 wt.% 4PbO-B2O3 and sintered at 1150°C for 30 h, the planar coupling factor kp is higher than that of plain PZT (52/48). For PZT (94/6) doped with 0.5 wt.% 4PbO-B2O3, a planar coupling factor and a dielectric constant equal to 0.16 and 330, respectively, can be attained with sintering at 950°C for 30 h
