Abstract :
In the paper a new self-tuning controller for the electrode position system of electric arc furnaces is proposed. The presented algorithm realizes the idea of temperature-weighting adaptive control without continuous measurement of the furnace temperature and rejects various disturbances quite well. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been demonstrated by the control experiment on a five-ton electric arc furnace.
