Abstract
The battery-ultracapacitor composite power supply for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) is studied, and the configuration and the model of it are introduced. The operating states of the battery-ultracapacitor composite power supply are analyzed and the fuzzy logic based energy management strategy is studied expressly. The fuzzy controllers are designed respectively for the discharging state and charging state of the battery-ultracapacitor composite power supply. The simulation model of the series HEV with the battery-ultracapacitor composite power supply is established based on the Advisor software. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the energy management strategy. Compared with the vehicle only using batteries, the dynamic performance and the fuel economy performance of the vehicle are evidently improved.
