Abstract :
EPRI is at the forefront of developing and introducing new technologies to integrate electric utility system operation and planning. This integration has to take place across a wide geographical area for coordinating different planning and operating entities, as well as between system operation and planning within the same entity. Three “enabling technologies” are crucial in meeting this objective. They are: the EPRI common information model (CIM) and application program interface (API); the EPRI standards for data communication, e.g. the Inter-Control Center Protocol (ICCP) also known internationally as TASE.2; and EPRI advanced application software and methodologies. These three technologies are briefly outlined
