Abstract
State-of-the-art video, optical and wireless communication systems are seeing dramatic advances, ranging from processing and devices to circuit and system-level development. The trend is increasingly towards integrating entire mixed analog and digital systems on pure CMOS VLSI technologies. This becomes a major challenge to the ASIC designer when system requirements dictate performance in terms of speed, accuracy, dynamic range, power consumption and supply voltage from the analog sections of the chip. This paper describes recent work of the authors in an attempt to address this problem, and presents the design and development of a range of wideband front-end building blocks in CMOS VLSI technology
