Abstract :
The design of a 360o phase control vector-sum phase shifter (VSPS) covering the entire L-band is presented. This type of phase shifter is often implemented in integrated circuit (IC) technologies for higher frequencies. Using low-cost commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) discrete components on PCB, an L-band VSPS design is proposed and experimentally verified. An RMS phase error about 2.5o, input- and output return losses larger than 18 dB, amplitude imbalance less than 1.5 dB and a gain variation less than 3 dB are measured across 1 to 2 GHz.
