Abstract

The Air Force Logistics Command has launches a major initiative to improve the quality of VAMOSC products and, thus, provide relevant O&S (operating and support) cost data to support decision processes. This initiative has led to both a near-term get-well plan and long-range modernization plan for the VAMOSC system. The improved VAMOSC system will be embodied in an O&S cost information center which will be part of the new Air Force Cost center. The author presents the specific plans for improvement of the VAMOSC system and establishment of the O&S cost information center. Emphasis is on describing how VAMOSC products can be utilized in a multitude of applications requiring O&S cost data. Applications include estimation of O&S costs for new weapon systems, force planning and budgeting, and weapon system master planning
