Abstract
Recently, an improved Z-source inverter topology has been proposed to reduce the capacitor voltage stress and limit the inrush current at startup in traditional Z-source inverter. The dynamic modeling and transfer functions are essential to design control schemes for this new topology. This paper presents the small signal modeling and mathematical analysis of the improved Z-source inverter. In particular, the state space averaging method is employed to deduce the transfer functions. Various computer simulation results are presented to validate the small signal modeling method.
