Abstract :
Summary form only given. Provides an overview of multiaccess protocols. The major developments that have taken place in this field and the motivation behind them were traced, and the major elements characterizing each class were identified. Local area networks, radio networks, and metropolitan area networks were covered, and the impact of various technologies, including but not limited to spread-spectrum, fiber optics, optical wavelength division, etc., was addressed. Issues pertaining to performance were also addressed.<>
