Abstract :
This paper presents a novel equalarea modulation strategy to be applied to multilevel voltage-source inverter. The proposed method used in 7-level inverter can generate output- stepped waveforms with equalarea sinusoidal and minimized total harmonic distortion (THD) of voltage. By using mathematic analyses and comparing with selected harmonic elimination PWM (SHEPWM), experimental simulation waveforms and corresponding spectrums demonstrate that the proposed method is more effective for the reduction of total harmonic distortion.
