Abstract :
A joint source channel coder (JSCC) for image transmission over an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel is presented, and analyzed with respect to the loss of performance due to practical limitations. It is shown how the non-optimality of dimensional changing mappings, and having a limited set of them, effects the overall performance of the system. From this analysis, an additional mapping is proposed
