Abstract :
Based on a newly proposed 3-D graphical representation of DNA sequences, we perform sequences analysis on essential genes among different species. The results show that this new model can help to exhibit the intrinsic features of DNA sequence. From this representation, 24 variables are exploited as quantitative descriptors of DNA sequences, their applications in essential genes as well as their complementary sequences analysis validated their utility. The present study can provide convenient tools for discriminating different types of DNA sequences, such as horizontal transfer genes and coding/non-coding regions.
