Abstract
The primary purpose of microwave tube research and development at SLAC is the construction of very high energy density pulsed microwave sources to power future electron-positron colliders. In this paper, the SLAC work on very high power klystrons is reviewed, as is the development of improved output circuits to reduce RF gradients, the use of periodic permanent magnet (PPM) focusing in conjunction with multiple beams, and the research on cathodes and RF breakdown
