Abstract :
This paper presents an architecture of IEC 61850-based Universal gateway, by designing a new protocols and protocols-mapping modeling method named Metadata Modeling which uses XML Schema techonology to model metadatas of protocols and protocols-mapping. Bay equipments can use the modeling files to convert communication protocol into IEC 61850 protocol completely. By the new method, IEC 61850-based Universal gateway will have the characteristics of smart configuration. Finally, an example is shown to use XML Schema for modeling IEC 60870-5-103 protocol.
