Abstract
The widespread use of single-phase induction motor has motivated a lot of researchers to investigate alternatives to implement a single-phase induction motor drive (SPIMD) system with low and high performance capability. This paper evaluates two high performance SPIMD based on sensorless approach. Firstly an IFOC based sensorless control strategy is evaluated by comparing it with a regular IFOC that uses a speed sensor. Secondly a sensorless stator flux oriented control is evaluated and compared with the first one. These sensorless control systems help to reduce the total cost of the system throughout the elimination of the sensor and its instrumentations. In this paper the modelling that allows implement a sensorless SPIMD is presented. Simulation and experimental results show the feasibility of the approach
