Abstract
This paper provides a discussion of the possible risks and financial costs of off shore wind power generation using, as a basis, the Dogger Bank development initiative in the UK. Some of the logistical and technical challenges of locating large, offshore wind farms at a considerable distance from the shore are explored. The comments are intended to contribute to ongoing discussions about the development of alternative energy sources in the UK and elsewhere.
