  • Abstract
A strain, Enterobacter sp.S080, was isolated from a lab-scale modified AAO system treating dye-containing wastewater. This strain exhibited a evident color-removal capability when tested against Reactive Black 5under anaerobic condition. More than 85% of Reactive Black 5 was removed within 25h at 50 mg/L dye concentration under anaerobic conditions. Additionally, physiological-biochemical characteristics indicate that the optimum initial pH value and its grow temperature are 10 and 30°C, respectively. The observed changes in the UV-visible spectra exhibit the color-removal by the degradation rather than adsorption during incubation with strains.
