Abstract :
This paper covers an experimental investigation of the losses in a planar inductor. The planar structure is modelled in different ways with FEM software to perform the loss calculations. Thermally controlled experiments are performed for a range of frequencies to validate FEM loss calculations. Extension of the present work to general planar magnetic components is discussed
