Abstract :
A modular He-cooled divertor concept with integrated pin arrays (HEMP) has been pursued at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe since 2002. The design goal is to achieve a high heat flux of 10-15 MW/m2 at least, which is proposed for a near-term reactor solution like DEMO. Within the framework of the EU power plant conceptual study (PPCS), the HEMP design is being investigated in detail.
