Abstract
This paper deals with the implementation of an electrical-optical interface for data transmission among PCs, via wireless in-house IR radiation, using commercial and available devices. Data transmission is achieved using the CSMA/CD IEEE 802.3 standard. The main advantages of this system are lower costs (no cabling required), mobility and no interference with neighbor networks. These advantages, together with the development in optoelectronic components, allow high bit rate wireless systems to be obtained with a low cost
