Abstract :
The single-element DRA has been well studied but its antenna gain is limited to -5 dBi. In some applications a higher antenna gain may be required. Therefore, researchers have to design different types of DRA arrays to improve the antenna gain performance. Choosing an appropriate spacing between elements of the array, as well as proper phasing of the currents feeding individual sections, one may obtain various specialized radiation patterns with enhanced antenna gain. In this paper, an aperture-coupled single-element DRA is first studied and designed. Next, 2/spl times/2 and 4/spl times/4 arrays with all elements feeding in phase are designed. An infinite DRA phased array is investigated experimentally using a C-band rectangular waveguide termination.
