  • Abstract
The PiezogranTM transducer is a modified 0-3 composite which operates in the 1-3 mode. It is a composite of sintered piezoelectric ceramic granules dispersed in an epoxy polymer. The granules protrude from the epoxy and are ground to provide flat ceramic surfaces. These ground surfaces are then electroded with silver and poled in a conventional manner. Measurements of 500 pC/N for d33 have been recorded with PiezogransTM which contain PZT 5H as the active material. Advantages of this transducer include: shape flexibility; low cost large area capability; flexible ceramic loading; force amplification, and enhanced hydrostatic sensitivity
