  • Abstract
    This paper presents a new scheme of the wind system with half-direct coupling (HDC) WECS to solve the problems in the direct-diver coupling (DDC) wind energy conversion system (WECS), because of too large scale WECS in practice. The proposed scheme is only added a small ratio gear to the system between the large wind turbine and the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). A PWM AC-DC converter with SVPWM control method is proposed for the peak power tracking (PPT) control. Some simulation tests of the proposed system and control strategies have been developed based on Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results verified the feasibility of the proposed system.
