Abstract
Points out the problems of OOA/D methods concerning function decomposition, the assignment procedure and its description methods. We suggest a practical method, called SSDM (sentential system design method), as a solution for those problems. SSDM makes use of the preliminary outcomes of an OOA/D method. With those as inputs, we first prepare semantic diagrams, and then, for each system function, we draw SSDM diagrams referring to the concerned semantic diagrams. SSDM shows the function decomposition process clearly, describes it definitely, and maps functions into operations easily. SSDM is simple, but can improve the uniqueness in the design of functions and processes. We believe that, as a simple but practical method, SSDM can reinforce present OOA/D methods
