Abstract
Nowadays vehicular traffic is a major problem. Drivers choose the route that they believe will be the fastest; however traffic congestion can significantly change the duration of a trip. Providing real-time traffic information to drivers and navigation systems helps them to choose the best route. In this paper, a new scheme for acquiring real-time traffic information on inter urban routes which are based on an amalgamation of VANET networks with both inter-vehicle communication (IVC) and vehicle road-side device communication (VRC) and conventional systems, is proposed. An appropriate cost function and its parameters are defined. New parameters are proposed for the first time to route guidance problems using traffic information such as uncertainty.
