  • Abstract
    The paper deals with the restoration of the power supply system of RFX machine after the fire occurred at the end of 1999. Significant modifications have been introduced, taking advantage from the recent technologies, in order to increase the plant safety and to extend the previous RFP researches in MHD mode control and enhanced confinement regimes. Replacement of ignitrons with power thyristors, new scheme for the toroidal field power supply, digital solutions for converter control and signal transmission, large number of power dc/dc converters with fast response and high accuracy are examples of the improvements that will be available for the RFX next experimental phase, which will start in 2004.
