Abstract :
Sacramento Air Logistics Center (SM-ALC) was tasked by Headquarters Strategic Air Command, Warner Robins Air Logistic Center and Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center to develop the Signal Data Converter (SDC) Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) to replace the Video Distribution Unit (VDU), Symbol Signal Generator (SSG), and Servo Control Unit (SCU) LRUs that are currently part of the B-52 Electro Optical Viewing System (EVS) data Presentation Group. This task was targeted because of the low MTBF of the existing system complicated by diminishing manufacturing sources (DMS) concerns of the existing ~20 year old design. Through the Microelectronics Technology Support program (MTSP) sponsored by the Advanced Electronics Technology Group (AETG) at McClellan Air Force Base, California, Computing Devices International (CDInt.) teamed with the AETG to develop the SDC utilizing advanced electronics technology processes and circuitry
