Abstract
P2P (Peer-to-Peer) networking architectures represent scalable and cost-effective features. The media streaming technology leveraging P2P architecture is expected to be an attractive content delivery scheme and an alternative for IP multicast or content delivery systems requiring expensive network infrastructure and a large scale centralized cash storage systems. In this paper, we address the P2P progressive download which enables Internet video streaming services in the cost-effective and scalable manner, and to be easy to deploy. We demonstrate the capability of such P2P progressive download in the heterogeneous access networks with the mixture of FTTH and ADSL links using P2P-based progressive download streaming system called Grid On Demandtrade. In particular, we will experimentally investigate how the FTTH deployment improves the streaming performance of the P2P progressive downloading.
