  • Abstract
In order to obtain a higher glutathione (GSH) production, the original strain of S. cerevisiae BY-14 was mutated with N+ implantation (10 keV, 60×1014 ions/cm2) , and an ethionine-resistant mutant BL-23 was obtained. The mutant showed GSH production increased from 58.79 mg/l to 113.46 mg/l, and content increased from 14.17 mg/g dry cell weight to 20.86 mg/g dry cell weight. The mutant BL-23 is stable in genetic. Its higher glutathione producing ability could be inherited after ten times subcultures.
