  • Abstract
The design and development of an all-digital sonobuoy receiver capable of receiving multiple RF channels, processing the signals, and distributing the information for acoustic signal processing in a suitable format are discussed. The multichannel digital sonobuoy receiver consists of an analog RF/IF conversion stage, analog-to-digital (A/D) converter, polyphase filter section, frequency demodulators, and digital audio filters, plus the overall receiver controller. The dynamic range of a digital receiver is limited primarily by the speed, resolution, and linearity of the A/D converter. The architecture and design of the receiver are flexible enough to be useful in other applications where a large number of channels have to be monitored simultaneously, such as surveillance receivers
