Abstract
Language acquisition of students needs lot of practice dependently and independently in class or after class. Language study time in class is limited. Distance language learning guided by teacher is necessary and possible with the help of the Web. The thesis focuses on the design of distance language learning under the cognitive theory and the condition of the modern educational technology, in which the concept of multi-synchronous learning is introduced and the connection between language acquisition and the cognitive model is argued. In the thesis the Web providing media and different materials for different cognitive model in the multi-synchronous learning and the application of the multi-synchronous learning design are also stated.
