  • Abstract
With the development of electronics, communications and materials technology, smart clothing or referred to as electronic textiles (E-Textile) are gradually moving from concept to practice. Reliable, safe and non-obtrusive wearable physiological monitoring is an important application field of smart clothing. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a very important physiological parameters, but conventional ECG sensors, AgCl electrodes, does not apply to dynamic environment of long-term wearable ECG testing. The past two years, many scholars have dedicated to investigate various methods used for wearable flexible electrodes. This paper presents a novel cloth electrode, which was directly made in cloth using conductive multi-walled carbon tubes (MWNTs). The advantages of this cloth electrode include high conductivity, simple manufacturing process and wearing durability. ECG acquisition and several experiments prove its feasibility.
