Abstract
A robust controller is designed for the pitch rate control system of an advanced combat aircraft for a section of the flight envelope over which there is a significant variation in the aircraft dynamics. The QFT methodology is reviewed and the links between H∞ control theory explored. The design results are compared with previous studies using H∞ synthesis and it is shown how improved results can be obtained using the results of the quantitative analysis
