Abstract
The quasi-static variational method in the Fourier domain is applied to suspended coupled microstrip lines for the design of a suspended microstrip coupler. The golden section based optimization algorithm has been used to synthesize the suspended microstrip coupler for the optimum directivity, theoretically which could be above 90 dB. A 10-dB suspended microstrip coupler has been fabricated in order to test the design
