Abstract
The evaluation tool ETSIN comprises a software model of a target network with an IN architecture and is able to interpret services within this model. As an example of a value-added service, universal personal telecommunications (UPT) has been chosen. The evaluating tool demonstrates the execution of this service and makes it possible to investigate the relationship between UPT and IN. The evaluation tool can be seen as part of a service creation environment. It provides: animation, simulation and analysis facilities, to investigate the execution of a service; and configuration of network entities, functional entities and service components. This means that it is possible to construct a network out of a given set of hardware entities and to associate software components with those entities
