Abstract :
Nowadays, software is regarded not only as a product but also as a kind of service provided to the end users. Software as a Service (SaaS) model is gradually adopted by more and more enterprises. It reduces the cost of hardware, maintenance, updating and many other services for end users. It enables users focus on their business areas. The model also enables software providers provide services to end users so the providers can have more stable and higher revenue. In this paper, we use an application from Dynamsoft as a case study to introduce the important facts about SaaS. Among those facts, business model and architecture are of more interest to software development teams. While reliability, scalability and security are the biggest concerns from the end users. Dynamsoft is a software vendor that has been providing several SaaS applications for years. SCM Anywhere Hosted is one of them. We will introduce the details of implementing SCM Anywhere as a SaaS application.
