Abstract :
Evidence-based medicine (EBM) highlights the integration of the best research evidence, clinical expertise and patient values into the practice of patient care. There were some studies concerning on the implementation of EBM in hospitals. The considerations of those researches are mostly focused on organization-level actions. However, user-level interactions with an EBM system are rarely studied. The participant observation and in-depth interview methods are used to gather the physicianspsila meaningful experiences with EBM realization. The interview transcripts are analyzed based on the techniques of grounded theory. Accordingly, the symbolic interaction model of an EBM system is established. The multiple symbols associated with EBM realization are induced. Altogether, five different symbolic constructions of EBM realization are documented as dasiamedical assistantpsila, dasialearning encouragerpsila, dasiacommunication platformpsila, dasiajob enricherpsila and dasianegativismpsila.
