Abstract
The paper addresses the role and the advantages of mobile agents in the world of computing and describes the Multimedia Transportable Agent System, a prototype we are currently developing. The main goals of the system are to provide support for agent based applications and to combine the multimedia and the agent technologies: mobile agents can travel and execute on different nodes along the network and manipulate data of various media types such as audio and video
