Abstract
The paper describes an empirical study conducted to determine which features are significant to humans for clustering and information retrieval algorithms. New methods for comparing sets of clusters created by both humans and machine are described. The results of these experiments are then used to make recommendations for the design of conceptual clustering algorithms
