Abstract
The blocking performance of a mobile radio system employing directed retry (DR) has been analyzed considering a priority based hand-off (HO) scheme. The effects of propagation parameters (shadowing, path-loss), characteristics of the cellular scenario (density of base stations), channel reservation, maximum number of cells considered at call set up, etc., have been studied on the blocking performance of DR calls. Assigning priority to HO calls reduces HO failure while increasing DR call blocking.
