Abstract :
The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) has regulated EMC since 1997. It can be said that most manufacturers are familiar with EMC requirements and regulations since it has been implemented for many years. In order to have this process more understood, the author introduces a current BSMI equipment authorization program, including technical document reviews, and possible future actions. This paper discusses a new BSMI proposal, that will consider deregulating the equipment authorization process for peripheral equipment of personal computers, that is perhaps a first step towards an equipment approval process that will be consistent with these international developments.
