  • Abstract
Retransmission of corrupted packets in Bluetooth consumes power. This paper presents a new technique to reduce the retransmission times. The paper works on the (Enhanced Data Rate) EDR Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1) packets (2DH1) for applying the proposed schemes. It is known that Bluetooth systems employ an expurgated Hamming (15, 10) code for error correction. In this paper, we present a new packet format through using different error correction coding schemes for EDR Bluetooth packets. Also, analytical studying of Packet Error Probability (PEP) for classic and EDR packets is presented. The simulation experiments are held over an Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel. Our experiments reveal that the proposed encoded EDR packets scheme enhances the power efficiency of Bluetooth systems and reduce the losses of EDR packets.
