Abstract :
The paper presents an incremental fuzzy logic (IFL) rule based controller for high performance DC motor drive speed regulation, including the smooth starting and acceleration for separately excited (SE) or permanent magnet DC motor drives. The SE or permanent magnet-DC motor drive is fed from a three-phase supply voltage via a six pulse thyristor controlled rectifier. The control law regulates the firing delay angle (α) using the fuzzy logic assigned rules based on an equivalent PI action. The proposed IFL controller utilizes the motor speed error (eω) and the armature current deviation(e i) from its maximum or “specified” allowable current level. The control voltage signal is used to regulate the firing delay “control” angle α of the three-phase controlled rectifier bridge
