Abstract :
Models of the human body, so-called phantoms, are used in antenna measurements of mobile terminals to model the effects of the user to RF radiation characteristics. Traditionally only the talk position, i.e., a mobile terminal beside the user´s head, has been modeled in antenna measurements. However, along with high data rate mobile communications systems and so-called smartphones the traditional talk position is not necessarily the most typical use position any more. There are some new use positions such as browsing and body-worn positions that are becoming more and more common. In this paper we consider these new use positions from antenna performance testing point of view. Measurement results for GSM phones in some new phantom set-ups are presented and discussed
