Corporate governance pattern results from the conformity of its institutional succession to social customs. The effectiveness of a corporate governance pattern depends on the conformity and compatibility of its formal governance contract to the informal institution or governance culture and social customs. For this reason, this paper analyses social cultural factors influencing Anglo-American and German-Japanese corporate governance patterns and structures as well as the effects of Chinese traditional culture on the formation and evolution of the Chinese corporate governance pattern.
