Abstract
With the advent of power electronics and the increasing demand for DC power, a new power distribution system for future homes is proposed. The system consists of a power-factor-corrected AC-DC pre-regulator, a battery charger, a bi-directional DC-DC converter, a DC-AC converter, a smart energy meter and an intelligent energy management system. Issues related to power quality, electricity pricing, enabling technologies, load requirements, design and compatibility are investigated. The advantages and feasibility of this system are also discussed
