Secure Mobile Multicast Handoff Mechanisms Using a Time-Limited Key

This paper proposes a secure mobile multicast hand-off mechanism supporting a group-key management and membership authentication for a mobile multicast member. Our group-key management creates a time-limited group key for the moved member for efficient update of a multicast group-key. Also, an old MMA (mobile multicast agent) performs the member re-authentication with a new MMA during movement from the old one to the new one for fast membership authentication. We analyze performances for the proposed mobile group key management and membership authentication. We implement and test them for three month in our laboratory and other sites.
