Abstract :
The braking cylinder block is a representative part produced by drawing process. In current production, however, two drawing steps are employed, leading to high cost. In this paper, the product structure of the braking cylinder block and its production process are improved based on formability simulation result with the finite element method (FEM). According to the simulation results, the modified design shows better formability although with only one drawing step, while the internal strain is still less than forming limit and the minimum thickness also meets requirement.
